A Chambersburg man admitted that he was a crack cocaine distributor in Franklin County after he arrived home as police were searching it last year.

Vernon Leroy Ealy Jr., 43, was jailed Friday in lieu of $250,000 bail, court records show.

Ealy is charged with one felony count of possession with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Members of Pennsylvania State Police and Franklin County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant in connection with an ongoing narcotics investigation on Oct. 15 at an apartment in a building at 272 E. Queen St., state police wrote in court documents filed last week with Magisterial District Judge David Plum in Pleasant Hall.

Law enforcement found "quantities" of crack cocaine that were consistent with distribution, as well as U.S. currency "commingled with official funds," a digital scale and glass smoking pipes. Police also found Suboxone, a medication to treat opioid addiction.

Ealy arrived as the search was going on. After being read his Miranda rights, he told police the crack that had been found was his and "indicated" he distributed crack cocaine in the county.

Court documents did not state how much crack cocaine was found.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, in Franklin County Central Court.
