Minnesota farmer encouraged by Trump/Perdue relationship

An American Farm Bureau member says she’s encouraged by the relationship Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue has with President Trump.

Minnesota farmer Carolyn Olson serves on AFBF’s Issue Advisory Committee for Organic and Direct Marketing.

“Thankfully we have Secretary Perdue, who has a good relationship with the President and can bend his ear on agriculture issues. Secretary Perdue is also a friend of agriculture (and) friend to Farm Bureau. So it’s good to have that connection in there.”

She points out other members of the Trump Administration, like ousted EPA administrator Scott Pruitt, haven’t been so fortunate.

“We’ve been fortunate that Secretary Perdue has been such an advocate for us, and that he has been able to calmly approach the President and get the job done that we need him to do.”

Olson tells Brownfield even in situations like trade disputes that seem to hurt agriculture, Secretary Perdue is working hard on behalf of farmers.
