COLUMBUS, Ohio - Coach Suzy Merchant preached a need for consistency with her Michigan State women's basketball team after they dropped a pair of recent games on the road.

The Spartans are still trying to find that consistency away from the Breslin Center.

No. 17-ranked MSU remained winless on the road in Big Ten play Monday, suffering a 65-55 loss to Ohio State.

The Spartans, who moved up six spots in the Associated Press rankings earlier Monday, struggled offensively while falling to 0-3 in Big Ten road games.

Shay Colley had 18 points and Jenna Allen had 11 points for MSU, which shot just 30.6 percent from the field while being held to a season-low in scoring.

Taryn McCutcheon added 10 points - all in the first half - for the Spartans (12-4, 2-3 Big Ten).

Carly Santoro had 25 points for Ohio State, which improved to 6-8 and 2-4 in the Big Ten. Monday's win was the second straight over a ranked opponent for the Buckeyes, who also upset No. 25 Indiana on Thursday.
