Liquor licence transfer part of new Cree Meadows ownership

Menu will offer some new items with an emphasis on steak

Cree Meadows is under new ownership and received compliments from a Ruidoso village councilor during the council meeting last week when a transfer of liquor license transfer was approved.

Oscar Booher is listed as owner/managing member for Cree Meadows and answered a few questions during the public hearing.

Oscar Booher, listed as owner/managing member on application documents, said Cree Meadows Country Club and Golf Course LLC is acquiring the club on Country Club Drive in Ruidoso and that entails transfer of several licenses now held by club members.

“It will be operated under the same way it’s been since back in 40s,” Booher said. “We intend to improve the club and make the course more accessible and nicer for people to come and visit.”

”You have wonderful food,” Councilor Susan Lutterman, who offered the successful motion approving the transfer, told Booher.

“I noticed an ad that you are looking for servers and that would indicate some change,” Councilor Tim Coughlin said.

“We’re changing t a little bit,” Booher replied. “We’re expanding our hours and days and the (menu) is a little different than what was served in the past. We’ll have steaks and a few other things. We have breakfast, lunch and dinner.”

Golfers were enjoying the course at Cree Meadows during the summer.

Village Clerk Irma Devine said the transfer next goes to state after completing necessary paperwork with the new owners’ attorney. She noted that the public hearing on the transfer was properly advertised, all stakeholders were notified and she received no correspondence in favor or against.

Cree Meadows sign marks the spot.

The country club at 301 Country Club Drive is across the street from First Baptist Church, but was built many decades before the church was established.

The type of license is dispenser and previously was held by Cree Meadows Country Club Inc., composed of club members.
