Shutdown no excuse if E15 relief doesn’t happen this summer

The CEO of the American Coalition for Ethanol says he will not accept the government shutdown as an excuse if E15 relief does not occur in time for this summer.

Brian Jennings tells Brownfield it’s been more than three months since President Trump directed the EPA to lift Reid Vapor Restrictions.

“EPA could’ve issued a rule-making in October, or November, or December, or January, but they did not. They insisted on waiting until February to issue that proposed rule.”

He says that decision has left very little room to get the rule-making done in time for the 2019 summer driving season.

“So now we have this government shutdown, and I suppose some, including some at EPA, may suggest that it is an excuse for them not to get the rule-making done. But I cannot accept that as an answer, knowing that they have waited so long to get started on this as is.”

Jennings says ACE will continue to hold the EPA accountable and insist year-round E15 becomes a reality by June first.
