Chicago brewery offers free beer if customers can make kick Bears' Cody Parkey missed

The game you see on TV isn't as easy as it looks.

Chicago Bears fans who had to drown their sorrows after Cody Parkey's potential game-winning field goal hit both the left upright and crossbar before bouncing away can have a shot at redemption this weekend thanks to a local brewery.

The day after Sunday's painful playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Goose Island Beer Co. tweeted a challenge to fans upset with Parkey's kicking:

"A lot of armchair kickers on here are saying that they could hit that field goal, which we find DOUBTFUL. You're gonna sit there on your throne of potato chips and vape pens and criticize this dude's athleticism? GET REAL."

To prove the point, the brewery plans to set up a goal post this weekend outside its location to allow customers to try a 43-yard kick – matching the distance of Parkey's miss.

Those who can convert will "win beer for a year and eternal glory."

The promotion taps into any football fan's fantasy. Besides, what red-blooded Chicagoan wouldn't want free beer for a year?

But don't be surprised if some creative measures are deployed to "ice" the kicker.
