Ocean City police identify PA woman killed in crash

Ocean City police have identified the pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday as Lorena D. Merris, 56, of Landisburg, Pennsylvania.

The accident happened Dec. 29 at approximately 8:50 p.m. in  the area of 28th Street and Philadelphia Avenue in Ocean City.

Police said in a news release late Monday that Merris was crossing the highway when she was struck by a BMW 328i. The driver of the vehicle remained on-scene. 

Merris was flown to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore by helicopter where she succumbed to her injuries Sunday afternoon. 

The cause of the collision is still under investigation by the OCPD Traffic Safety Unit. Officials know alcohol was not a factor regarding the driver of the vehicle, police said.
