The pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in Ocean City this weekend has died, police said.

The victim, a 56-year-old woman from Pennsylvania, was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore via Maryland State Police Trooper 4 following the incident on Saturday, Dec. 29.

She later succumbed to her injuries and died on Sunday, Dec. 30, said Lindsay Richard, spokesperson for the Ocean City Police Department.

Ocean City did not release her name Monday morning.

At 8:51 p.m. on Dec. 29, officers were dispatched to a pedestrian collision near the intersection of 28th Street and Philadelphia Avenue, Richard said.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation by the OCPD Traffic Safety Unit. Officials know alcohol was not a factor regarding the driver of the vehicle and the pedestrian was in the immediate area of the crosswalk, Richard said.

This report will be updated.
