'Give me the money': Hagerstown, Md., man charged in Greencastle M&T Bank robbery

GREENCASTLE - A Maryland man was denied bail for his alleged involvement in robbing an M&T Bank earlier this month. 

George Arthur Graves, 50, Hagerstown, Md., is charged with a felony count each of prohibited possession of a firearm, according to court records. He has been in Franklin County Jail since Thursday, denied bail.

Greencastle Police were alerted at about 5 p.m. Dec. 7 that a man in dark clothing had brandished a handgun then fled after obtaining an unknown amount of money from the bank, at 643 E. Baltimore St. Court documents state three employees told authorities the man pointed the gun at them and said, "give me the money, give it all to me!" 

The bank's security then began tracking the man using GPS devices, and found he was traveling on Interstate 81 toward Maryland. Police said they also used their tracking capabilities, and determined the man had gotten off the interstate and traveled into Hagerstown.

Neighbors in the area of the bank had reported seeing a burgundy four-door sedan driving fast on East Baltimore Street toward the interstate. Using GPS, Maryland law enforcement found a vehicle matching this description and later saw the man get out of the car with a small black bag. 

Police apprehended Graves in Hagerstown. His criminal history was found to include several previous felony convictions. 

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Graves on Dec. 27.
