Man arrested in connection with stolen vehicle after Oxnard traffic stop

A 32-year-old man was arrested in Oxnard after he was reportedly found driving a stolen vehicle, police said.

Brandon Beechum, 32, of Oxnard, was arrested sometime after 9:15 p.m. Monday when police pulled over a suspicious vehicle in the 3400 block of Camino Avenue, according to the Oxnard Police Department.

Officers reportedly found that the vehicle had the wrong license plates, police said.

After a search of the vehicle identification number, police eventually found that the vehicle had been reported stolen on Dec. 9 out of Oxnard.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Beechum, was arrested and booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of felony unlawful taking of a vehicle, receiving stolen property and misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine, according to jail records.

He was held on $65,000 bail and is due in Ventura County Superior Court on Wednesday.
