VOTE NOW: The Naples Daily News Athlete of the Week sponsored by Babcock Ranch, Dec. 10-15

It’s time to vote for the Naples Daily News high school athlete of the week sponsored by Babcock Ranch. Voting will close at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Nominees are derived from scores and stats emailed in by Collier County’s coaches during the week. Voting begins each Monday at 10 a.m.

Voting is restricted to once per device an hour.

Coaches can email scores to sports@naplesnews.com. The deadline for each night’s results is 10:30 p.m.

Each winner will be presented with an Athlete of the Week T-shirt provided by BSN SPORTS as well as a Naples Daily News gift bag. A video featuring the winner will be posted Thursday on naplesnews.com.

Congratulations to Seacrest soccer player Lukas Pusinskas, who was Athlete of the Week for Dec 3-8.

The nominees for Dec. 10-15 are:

Boys Basketball

Preston Urbancic, First Baptist – Averaged 19.5 points last week in wins over district foes Canterbury and Seacrest

Girls Basketball

Jada McCray, Barron Collier – Scored 31 points total last week to lead the Cougars to two victories

Boys Soccer

Christian Wicker, Naples – Scored a goal to help the Golden Eagles top Immokalee 2-1 and stay undefeated

Girls Soccer

Malaya Melancon, First Baptist – Scored five goals in two district victories last week

Wrestling

Brennan Van Hoecke, Palmetto Ridge – Won his weight class at the Captain Archer Invitational, pinning his opponent in every match, to stay undefeated this season
