A Thousand Oaks woman who was originally arrested after an alleged murder attempt with a baseball bat eventually plead guilty to the lesser charge of felony assault with a deadly weapon, according to authorities and court records.

Authorities said they were contacted at 4:50 a.m. Wednesday by the victim in the 6000 block of East Smoke Tree Avenue in Oak Park. Deputies said they arrived to find a man suffering injuries, and he was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police said they learned the victim was hit with a baseball bat by Amanda Jaramillo, 31, of Thousand Oaks. Jaramillo had been staying at the victim's residence and during the course of the night hit him multiple times with the bat with the intent to kill him, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Jaramillo was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and booked into county jail, authorities said. She remained in custody in lieu of $520,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Ventura County Superior Court.

In February 2019, Jaramillo pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and was sentenced the following month to three years in prison minus about four months for time served in jail, court records show.
