Man arrested in T.O. after kilo of heroin found

Deputies in Thousand Oaks arrested a man after finding a kilogram of heroin in his vehicle, authorities said Thursday.

The arrest took place around 4 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of North Ventu Park Road.

Authorities said detectives had been investigating the suspect, identified as Carlos Rojas Solano, 48, of Long Beach, who they believed was involved with transporting narcotics to Ventura County.

Detectives searched Solano’s vehicle as part of the investigation and found a kilogram of heroin inside, authorities said. The heroin was known as “China white,” which is mixed with fentanyl to increase the potency, according to authorities. Fentanyl is a powerful and often deadly synthetic opioid.

The estimated value of the seized narcotics was $180,000 to $200,000 according to authorities.

Solano was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance for sale and booked in jail, according to authorities.
