Five bomb threats investigated in Collier County, Sheriff's Office says

Five bomb threats were investigated Thursday afternoon in Collier County, the Collier County Sheriff's Office reported.

The threats were made via email and mirrored threats received at locations across the nation Thursday afternoon, a news release from the Sheriff's Office stated.

The bomb squad and K-9 unit from the Sheriff's Office did not find anything suspicious in any of the locations and notified the FBI.

One of the threats in Collier was received at an office building at 8889 Pelican Bay Boulevard. The building, which includes investment firms and attorney offices, was evacuated but workers were allowed to go back inside by 3:30 p.m.

A second threat was received at a cosmetic dentistry office on Strada Place near Mercato in North Naples about 2 p.m.. That scene also has been cleared.

A third threat was received at 2:36 p.m. at a children's care clinic, 1441 Heritage Blvd., in Immokalee, said Michelle Batten, a spokeswoman for the Collier Sheriff's Office. 

A fourth threat was received at 2:21 p.m. at 6597 Nicholas Blvd. in Pelican Bay, and a fifth threat was received at 3:13 p.m. at 2122 Morning Sun Lane in North Naples.
