SAN ANGELO — There's a layaway angel in San Angelo.

Nikki Ramsdel, a worker in the Drug Demand Reduction program at Goodfellow Air Force Base, had $400 worth of layaway gifts paid off Monday, Dec. 10, 2018 at Walmart, 3440 S. Bryant Blvd.

"I got an email from Walmart on Monday saying my layaway was paid off and I couldn't believe it," Ramsdel said.

Ramsdel asked someone in layaway about it when she went to pick up the gifts and the employee told her someone came in and paid for a lot of people's layaway. A Walmart customer service rep said they didn't have details about the donor or how many accounts were paid.

"I'm so thankful," Ramsdel said. "I mean, you hear about this happening to other people, but you never think it would happen to you."

Ramsdel moved here in July when her husband started work as a fire instructor for Goodfellow Air Force Base. she said this gesture really showed how loving the people in San Angelo can be.

"I told my friend about it and they were just like, that's San Angelo, that's what they do here," Ramsdel said.

Ramsdel and her husband buy Christmas gifts for their four kids every year. While they don't have any trouble affording it, Ramsdel said they're still very thankful.

"It was a really nice gesture," Ramsdel said. "I heard the person did it for a lot of people so knowing someone who may not have been able to afford the gifts had it paid off, that's really special."
