City of Brady approved for $28.9 million to fund water infrastructure projects

AUSTIN – The Texas Water Development Board announced approval of $28,905,000 of funding for the City of Brady in McCulloch County to finance improvements to the local water system.

The City of Brady in McCulloch County has been approved for a $28 million loan package from the Texas Water Development Board to help update water infrastructure.

According to a news release from TWDB on Thursday, the loan package consists of $13,375,000 in grant funding from the Economically Distressed Areas Program, and a $10,830,000 loan plus $4,700,000 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF).

In addition to the grant funding and loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $5,477,000 over the life of the loan by using the DWSRF, according to the TWDB.

Planned improvements include construction of a new treatment plant, water transmission lines, and elevated and ground storage facilities.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
