Deputies say driver fled in East Naples; stores locked down on fear he had gun

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story reported the man was treated at Lee Memorial Hospital. He was treated at Physicians Regional Hospital.

A driver was arrested after a chase began in East Naples and ended on Pine Ridge Road near Airport-Pulling Road about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Collier County Sheriff's Office stated.

Target and other stores nearby were put on lockdown because a bystander who called the stores thought the fleeing suspect had a gun.

The driver was treated at Physicians Regional Hospital  for a dog bite from a Collier Sheriff's Office K-9.

He had fled after deputies tried to stop him for a wrong tag, said Jamie Mosbach, a public information officer with the Sheriff's Office.
