Section of N. Scenic Drive rerouted for water line replacement

ALAMOGORDO – Starting Monday, Dec. 10, City of Alamogordo construction crews will be closing the northbound lanes on the east side of North Scenic Drive.

City crews will be replacing two water service lines, backfilling two trenches, and re-surfacing the road. According to a City press release, the lane closures are expected to last for approximately 3-4 days.

Lanes will be shut down from 18th Street to Carmel Drive, and the west side of North Scenic will be a divided two-lane road.

Northbound traffic will be moved over to the west lane of North Scenic, and southbound traffic will be moved over to the westernmost lane of the street.

During the time of utility work, the City asks all motorists to be extra cautious while going through the traffic control/work area, or to seek an alternative route during this period. City crews will be working hard to get the project completed as quickly as possible so normal traffic can resume, the release states.
