Carrizozo library grows into new name and services

To give volunteers time to stack new books on the shelves and prepare for a grand reopening, the library will close for a month

From Staff Reports
  • Library hours will remain the same

The Carrizozo Library/Bookstore will be closed from Wednesday, Dec. 19,  until Friday, Jan. 18.

During the month, volunteers will be moving sale books off the shelves and replacing them with 7,500 lending library books. An exciting task for those involved. The llibrary will become the Carrizozo Community Public Library and Archive. With a library card, a person may check out books, DVD's, CD's, and books on tape.

The library will have the new name of Carrizozo Community Public Library and Archive when it reopens in January.

Stop by the library this week, or whenever there are cars at the library for a free library card application. Fill it out before the January Grand Opening date and an official library card will be ready, Jan. 18.

The library will have the same open hours: 2 p.n. to 7 p.m., Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

The community library has great, free lending books, free WiFi, computers and copy service, 10-cents for black and white, $40-cents for color.

Volunteers for a little bit or a lot are welcome. Help the community library continue to grow. Stop in at 406 Central Ave., Carrizozo, or call 575.648.2595,
