Tom Green County Library North Angelo branch gets a face lift, reopens

SAN ANGELO — Librarian Chelsea Preas wants to enhance people's experience at Tom Green County Library North Angelo Branch with new renovations.

"We hope the combination of added services and more open space will attract more people to the library," Preas said.

Renovations included opening up the common room, replacing the carpet, adding new computers and painting the walls.

The library was able to pay for this with $30,000 in donations by Friends of the Library, a local group that supports the library through various projects.

"This means it was basically from the community, so we thank everyone for helping," Preas said.

The library had been closed since Nov. 3 for renovations, but Preas said it was worth it.

"The building was definitely past due for an upgrade," Preas said.

Tom Green County Library North Angelo Branch has resided at 3001 N. Chadbourne St. since 1976, and in that time, there hasn't been a remodel until now.

"You could see carpet bubbling up, paint chipping and some other problems," Preas said. "It was definitely time to get it remodeled."

The library also purchased the room next to them, where they plan to have programs. They hope to tear down their wall and add a walkway to the room in the future.
