Christmas cards requested for kids

From Staff Reports

Remembering homeless and "at risk"  children at Christmas with a card is one way to show them they are the thoughts and prayers of others, Ron Malone, executive director of Assurance Home and James Ranch Youth Shelter, said.

Programs also are offered at the ranch.

He is asking people as they prepare their cards to send at Christmas to include the shelter on the list.

Since 1979, the shelter has offered a safe environment for those young people seeking respite from their situations.

"This ia such a nice and simple way to help the homeless and "at-risk" children in our program to know that theyare in your thoughts and prayers," Malone wrote in a letter to area business owners and others. "Our kids love receiving cards, so please, when mailing out Christmas cards this year, address one to The Young People of Assurance Home and the James Ranch Youth Shelter, 1000 East 18th St., Roswell, NM, 88201.
