A 35-year-old man initially suspected of abducting a 17-year-old girl was arrested Thursday, Milwaukee police said.

Kevin Nesbit

According to police:

The girl was reported missing Tuesday from the 3500 block of North 12th Street and was believed to be with the man, Kevin K. Nesbit.

Then on Wednesday, police said Nesbit was suspected of abducting the girl at gunpoint. When officers located the two later at a home in the 1100 block of West Atkinson Avenue, both of them fled, with officers finding the girl nearby a short time later.

Police said the girl was "taken into custody" and continued to search for Nesbit, though at the time they said there was no danger to the public.

Nesbit was arrested shortly before 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of West Capitol Drive, according to a news release.

The case will be reviewed by the Milwaukee County district attorney's office, according to the release, which did not indicate whether the girl had been released.

Milwaukee police did not immediately return an email message seeking information on the girl's status Thursday afternoon.
