Northbound I-69 near Charlotte remains closed after multiple crashes

CHARLOTTE - Police closed a portion of northbound Interstate 69 near Charlotte after multiple crashes were reported Wednesday morning.

While the road was reopened near Cochran Road, where the closure was initiated earlier, officials quickly closed the freeway a few miles away after another crash.

According to Eaton County 911 alerts, the interstate was shut down between Lansing Road and Cochran Road shortly after 9 a.m.

Northbound Interstate 69 was still closed from exit 57 to exit 61 until about 4:30 p.m..

An overturned semi-truck, and another damaged truck could be seen in the northbound lane of the interstate near exit 60 off M-50 in Charlotte just after 10:30 a.m. Crews were still working to remove the semi late Wednesday afternoon.

It's not clear whether there were any injuries.

MDOT reported on Twitter that the freeway was shut down again near Ainger Road at mile marker 51 shortly after 4:30 p.m. for a crash.

Messages left with the Eaton County Sheriff's Office were not returned.
