USMCA leaders on trade deal
Leaders from the U.S., Mexico, and Canada say the recently signed USMCA will benefit all three countries.
President Trump says the USMCA is one of the most important trade deals in U.S. history.
“The USMCA is the largest most significant modern and balanced trade agreement in history,” he says.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says it was important for them to take their time and make sure the benefits of the agreement were equal.
“That is what modernizing NAFTA achieves and that is why it was always so important to get this new agreement done right,” he says.
The USMCA must be ratified by lawmakers in each country.
Trump, Trudeau, and outgoing Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto signed the agreement Friday ahead of the G20 meeting in Argentina.
