Workshops aimed at tapping Mexico’s ethanol market

Ron Lamberty of the American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE) says there’s an opportunity to increase Mexico’s use of 10 percent ethanol blended gasoline. Lamberty recently returned from Mexico City where he was conducting workshops for local gas station owners about retailing 10 percent ethanol gasoline.

Mexico’s fuel ethanol use is currently a tiny amount sold near the U.S. border, but Lamberty says retailers further from the border are encouraged and interest in selling ethanol blends is growing. The recent workshops are the latest of several conducted this year with the U.S. Grains Council.

Lamberty says the blend is a safe and economical way to have cleaner air and provide less expensive fuel options for Mexico drivers.
