Missouri man charged with illegal dicamba application

A southeast Missouri man has been indicted in St. Louis federal court, accused of illegally applying dicamba herbicide to his cotton and soybean crops in 2016.

The indictment says Bobby Lowery, owner of Lowrey Farms in Parma (Missouri), applied a dicamba product that was not approved for post-planting application and farmers in the area reported drift damage to their crops.

Lowery is charged with misapplication of a pesticide, making false statements and giving fraudulent documentation to investigators. The investigation was done by the Missouri Department of Agriculture and carried through by the EPA who referred the case to federal prosecutors.

Lowery was previously sentenced  in federal court for farm subsidy and crop insurance fraud.
