Tyson Trendtellers Council forecasts 2019 food trends

Tyson Foods says more protein, fusion global meals at home, and personalized meal plans are just a few of the food trends that will likely take shape in 2019.

The U.S. food company created a Trendtellers Council to determine trends that could drive consumer choices next year.

The council says more people will create personalized meal plans to give them energy, focus, and sharper thinking.

The rise in blockchain technology means there is also a rise in transparency. Nearly 40 percent of consumers say they plan to switch to brands with more transparent labels.

Consumers will likely seek out more protein, according to the council. Consumption of beef, chicken, and pork continue to rise and demand for proteins like crickets and seaweed is expected to increase next year.

Other anticipated trends are: a rise in the use of smart appliances in the kitchen and consumers aligning with companies or brands with similar values.
