BATH TOWNSHIP - Bath Township police have identified the deer hunter who was found dead Friday night on state-owned property from an apparent gunshot wound.

The man has been identified as 68-year-old Chong Yang, of Lansing. He appeared to have been fatally shot while hunting along the 8500 block of E. Clark Road near Upton Road, Officer Avery Lyon said.

The death remains under investigation by police and the state Department of Natural Resources. Police don't have a suspect at this time; numerous individuals are being interviewed, Lyon said.

Police seek information from anyone who was hunting in that area Friday night and are expected to release more information about the case Tuesday afternoon, Lyon said.

Bath Township police seek information about a 68-year-old man who was found dead Friday night on state-owned property in the township. Police say he appeared to have been shot while hunting deer in the area.

Lyon said police were dispatched to the area at about 10 p.m. Friday after Clinton County's Central Dispatch Office received a cardiac arrest/respiratory arrest call.

Police don't believe Yang called 911 to report a medical issue, Lyon said.

Lyon said Yang was "wearing his hunter's orange" at the time he was believed to have been shot. He declined to say where police found Yang within the state-owned property authorized for hunting or to specify the area of the body where he was shot.

The area where police found Yang is approximately three miles east of the township's downtown.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Det. Bryan Miller at 517-641-6271 or central dispatch at 989- 224-6792.
