Ethanol production nearly steady, supplies jump

U.S. ethanol production was down a little bit last week, while stocks were higher. The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 1.067 million barrels a day, down 1,000 on the week, but still above the four-week average of 1.055 million. The industry is monitoring margins and demand ahead of the implementation of year-round E15 use.

Stocks were up for the second week in a row, jumping 364,000 barrels to 23.514 million.

Corn for ethanol use is on pace to meet or exceed the USDA’s record projection for the current marketing year.
