Date set for Portland's 2019 World Naked Bike Ride

Nearly 10,000 people participated in the annual ride the last few years.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The 2019 date for the World Naked Ride in Portland has been announced.

The annual ride will take place on Saturday, June 29, according to the organization’s website.

Nearly 10,000 people participated in the ride the last few years. This year's ride started at Cathedral Park in the St. Johns neighborhood of North Portland.

The riders' route is not announced in advance. However, the starting point will be announced before the ride.

The event is part of an international clothing-optional series of bike rides that promotes positive body image, cyclist safety and denounces oil dependence.
