Stravinsky opera will kick off Ojai Music Festival in June

Staff reports
Barbara Hannigan is the musical director of the 73rd Ojai Music Festival.

Igor Stravinsky's neoclassic opera, "The Rake's Progress," which addresses love, laziness and greed, will kick off the 73rd Ojai Music Festival on June 6, festival organizers announced Tuesday.

The performance will include the Los Robles Master Chorale, which is making its Ojai debut, and members of the Equilibrium mentoring initiative, which Music Director Barbara Hannigan, of Nova Scotia, created last year.

Also making its Ojai debut is LUDWIG, a collective from Amsterdam that collaborated with Hannigan on her Grammy Award-winning album, "Crazy Girl Crazy."

The 2019 festival runs June 6-9. For more information, go to OjaiFestival.org.
