First major snowfall brings the elk out to play

As residents woke up to it snowing this morning with temperatures in the mid 20's, a herd of 50+ elk made their way to a field off of Warrior Drive to frolic in the snow and enjoy a bountiful feast.

A proud bull stands strong in a field. He seems to be catching the snow on his tongue as the Village of Ruidoso saw its first major snowfall today.
Some 50+ elk could be seen this morning off of Warrior Drive as the Village saw its first major snowfall of the season.
This cow and a yearling are enjoying all that winter's first snowfall has to offer.
Over 50 elk scattered about an open field off of Warrior Drive as the snowfall came crashing down early morning on Nov.12.
The bull elk keep a watchful eye out for the herd as the first major snowfall hits the Village and brings spectators to view.
This young cow stops long enough for a picture then she returns to the rest of her herd playing about in the early morning snow on Nov. 12.
