Iowa soybean harvest at 94%, corn 83%

Iowa farmers battled cold and wet conditions to draw closer to the end of harvest.

The latest USDA Crop Progress Report says with four days suitable for fieldwork last week, the soybean harvest reached 94 percent complete.  That’s three days behind last year and four days behind the five-year average.

The corn for grain harvest is 83 percent done, three days behind normal.

Moisture content for corn is averaging 16 percent.

In addition to harvesting crops, Iowa farmers were busy baling stalks, applying anhydrous and manure, repairing tile, and fall tillage in areas where the ground was not too frozen.
