Green Bay Packers grade card: Position evaluation vs. Dolphins

Here's a position-by-position analysis of how the Green Bay Packers graded out during their 31-12 victory Sunday over the Miami Dolphins.

Quarterbacks: Aaron Rodgers (112.1 rating) again missed some throws, including throwing high to Davante Adams in the end zone on a red-zone possession that ended in a field goal. But he didn’t throw an interception and managed the offense. Grade: B-

Running backs: Aaron Jones had a career day rushing (145 yards) and a huge average per carry (9.7). He’s a difference maker this offense badly needs. Grade: A

ANALYSIS: Aaron Jones can find holes that others miss

Offensive line: Left David Bakhtiari had a rare rough game against a good defensive end (Robert Quinn, 1½ sacks). But overall the run blocking was good, and center Corey Linsley is at the top of his game. Grade: B

Wide receivers: Adams keeps piling up the touchdowns — his two Sunday give him 31 since the start of the 2016 season, which is tied with Pittsburgh’s Antonio Brown for most touchdown catches in the NFL over that time. Rookie Marquez Valdes-Scantling (six for 44 yards, no drops) had a couple good catches.  Grade: B+

Tight ends: Jimmy Graham, Lance Kendricks and Marcedes Lewis combined for four catches for 68 yards and no drops. They blocked well in the run game, too. Grade: B-

NOTES: Jimmy Graham takes pride in run-blocking ability

Defensive line: Kenny Clark, Dean Lowry and Montravius Adams each had a sack, and the Packers’ breakdowns stopping the run (Frank Gore had 90 yards on 13 carries) weren’t on the linemen. Grade: A-

Outside linebackers: Kyler Fackrell is on the ground too much and Reggie Gilbert tends to get hooked on outside runs, but each had a sack and played better than starters Clay Matthews and Nick Perry. Grade: C+

Inside linebackers: Blake Martinez had nine solo tackles playing on a sore ankle; that’s a decent night’s work. Antonio Morrison helped shore up the run defense as the game went on. Grade: B-

Cornerbacks: Bashaud Breeland had his first interception of the season, and the cornerbacks held up without Kevin King (hamstring). Rookie Josh Jackson had an illegal contact penalty, gave up several completions and missed a couple tackles. But in the end, Brock Osweiler had only a 66.6 rating. Grade: B+

Safeties: Kentrell Brice, Tramon Williams, Josh Jones and Raven Greene split time at safety because of injuries and didn’t give up anything deep. Greene had a sack and dropped an interception.  Grade: B-

Special teams: This could have been a disastrous game. JK Scott had a punt blocked, the punt-return unit gave up a 14-yard gain that converted a fake punt, and Williams lost a fumble on a punt return. But Greene picked up a first down (26 yards) on a fake punt of his own, and Scott, who’d been struggling with pooch punting, dropped one on the Dolphins’ 7. Grade: C-
