Pork Power campaign donates 8,500 pounds of pork to IL food bank

Members of the Knox County Pork Producers, Illinois Pork Producers Association and Riverbend Foodbank met for a donation ceremony at Thrushwood Farms in Galesburg.

The River Bend Foodbank, which serves nearly 100 food pantries in western Illinois, received 8500 pounds of pork from Illinois commodity groups as part of the 10th anniversary of the Pork Power: Partnering to Fight Hunger in Illinois campaign.

The campaign has generated more than 625,000 pounds of pork – enough for nearly 1.5 million meals for Illinois families since 2008.

The pork was presented to the food bank by the Illinois Pork Producers Association, Illinois Corn Marketing Board, Illinois Soybean Association Checkoff program and Knox County Pork Producers.
