The former location of the Antigua Latin Inspired Kitchen at 58th and Burnham streets will soon become the La Costena Cafe. A Latin restaurant plans to open in the former quarters of the Antigua Latin-Inspired Kitchen at 58th and Burnham streets in West Allis.

La Costena Cafe will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner at 5823 W. Burnham St., said Hugo Ramirez-Hernandez, who will own the restaurant with his brothers.

La Costena will have a full bar and will focus on Mexican dishes, he said.

It would be nice to open before the end of the year, "But you never know," said Ramirez-Hernandez, who comes from a restaurant family. He grew up in the restaurant business, his family owning a dining spot in Milwaukee, he said.

Alderman Vince Vitale and other city officials are marveling at how quickly the space was filled after former Antigua moved to larger quarters at 62nd Street and National Avenue.

"It's amazing," he said.

He was at Antigua's grand opening when he learned someone was already interested in its former 58th and Burnham location, Vitale said.

"That's very good for the city," he said.
