Klein-Dickert's glass work can be found at such high-profile sites as Lambeau Field. The company plans to develop new offices and manufacturing space in the City of Pewaukee.

Klein-Dickert is planning to develop new offices and a glass manufacturing operation in the city of Pewaukee.

The company, known formally as Klein-Dickert Milwaukee Inc., would develop the 53,000-square-foot, one-story building on a 10.2-acre parcel at W227 N4755 Duplainville Road.

That's according to documents filed with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

KIein-Dickert is seeking DNR approval for the project because the site includes wetlands.

Three of the four wetlands on the site wouldn't be affected by the proposed development, according to information filed by Klein-Dickert with the department.

However, a 3,500-square-foot wetland in the development site's center would need to be filled.

That wetland "is a degraded wetland dominated by invasive species," according to Klein-Dickert.

The company hopes to begin building the new facility in May if it receives DNR and city zoning approval, said Jim Longley, president.

Klein-Dickert would move in October from its facility at W231 N2837 Roundy Circle East, Pewaukee, Longley said Friday. Klein-Dickert also has an operation in Madison.

The company makes windows and other exterior glass for homes, office buildings, hotels and other buildings.

Its high-profile projects include Lambeau Field, Potawatomi Hotel and Casino, Marquette University Law School and Manpower Group's headquarters.

Klein-Dickert needs more space, Longley said. Along with its 20,000-square-foot main building, it's leasing another 6,000 square feet just across the street, he said.

The company's roots date to 1919, when Henry Klein and F.X. Dickert started a Madison paint contractor that also did glass work, according to Klein-Dickert's website.
