Police log: Woman thinks Facebook video led to $1,500 in fraudulent charges

Chambersburg area

Oct. 12: Nobody was injured after a Dodge Ram and a trailing unit traveled off the road and hit a concrete culvert, then traveled down an embankment and through a wire fence at about 12:27 p.m. on St. Thomas-Williamson Road, St. Thomas Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Police believe the driver fell asleep. 

Oct. 26: Tiana Noble, 35, Chambersburg, was charged with theft of leased property after she failed to pay on items leased from Aaron's, Lincoln Way East, Guilford Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The items involved include a Sharp Smart 4K UHD TV valued at $1282.51, five pieces of furniture valued at $1,670.30, and a Sony PS4 console/bundle valued at $1,320.21.

Oct. 27: A Chrevrolet 2500 truck struck a Ford recreational vehicle at about 9:18 a.m. as it was turning onto Black Gap Road, Greene Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police. 

Nov. 2: A Dodge Journey side-swiped an Infiniti QX60 at about 7:37 p.m. on Black Gap Road, Greene Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Nov. 4: An Orrstown man was taken to Chambersburg Hospital with suspected minor injuries after he traveled off the right shoulder of Interstate 81 southbound near Exit 16 in Guilford Township at about 3:40 a.m., and his vehicle hit the end of a guard rail and rolled onto its roof, according to Pennsylvania State Police. 

Nov. 5: Travis Islas, 26, Fayettevile, was charged with simple assault after an argument with a woman over relationship issues became physical at about 8 p.m. on Newman Road, Greene Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police. 

Nov. 6: A Subaru WRX struck a Honda CR-V at about 4:55 p.m. on Black Gap Road, Greene Township, after the driver of the Honda began backing up without first making sure it was clear and safe to do so, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Greencastle area

Oct. 15: A Greencastle woman discovered three fraudulent bank charges totaling $1,500. She believes the charges stemmed from a video on Facebook Messenger, which compromised her account and led to spyware being installed, according to Pennsylvania State Police. 

Oct. 26: Anthony Crider, 31, Greencastle, was charged with DUI following a traffic stop at 12:33 a.m. on Pa. 16 in the Greencastle borough, according to Pennsylvania State Police. 

Nov. 1: Pennsylvania State Police began an investigation into a sexual assault involving a 12-year-old girl on East Weaver Road, Antrim Township. 

Nov. 5: A Greencastle woman was uninjured after she lost control and struck a utility pole at about 5:49 a.m. on Williamson Road, Greencastle borough, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
