Trump Lashes Out At CNN's Jim Acosta for Telling Him a Caravan Isn’t an Invasion: 'You Are a Rude, Terrible Person’
President Donald Trump lashed out at CNN’s Jim Acosta on Wednesday after the reporter challenged him for calling a caravan of immigrants an “invasion.”
“I want to challenge you on one of the statements that you made in the tail end of the campaign in the midterms,” Acosta told Trump at a press conference following the midterm elections.
“Here we go,” Trump complained.
“It was not an invasion,” Acosta explained. “Why did you characterize it as such?”
“Because I consider it an invasion,” Trump replied.
“But do you think that you demonized immigrants in this election?” Acosta pressed. “Your campaign had an ad showing migrants climbing over walls.”
“They weren’t actors,” the president quipped. “Do you think they were actors? They weren’t actors. They didn’t come from Hollywood.”
When Acosta repeated his assertion that the caravan is not “an invasion,” Trump became enraged.
“That’s enough. That’s enough,” Trump said as aides tried to take the microphone from Acosta.
“I had one other question if I may ask on the Russia investigation,” Acosta pleaded.
“I’m not concerned about anything with the Russian investigation because it’s a hoax,” Trump snapped. “That’s enough. Put down the mic.”
“I’ll tell you what,” he added. “CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them. You are a rude, terrible person. You shouldn’t be working for CNN.”
