Mequon woman successfully names 27 cheeses in 30 seconds during Bucks in-game contest

Cheeseheads should know their cheeses, right? A fan at the Bucks game Sunday certainly did.

When Jamie Kiesl walked into Fiserv Forum for the first time to see the Bucks on Sunday, she had no way of knowing that cheeses would make her famous.

The 35-year-old Mequon resident absolutely drilled an in-game fan contest when she named 27 cheeses in 30 seconds, easily outpacing the Milwaukee Bucks player tasked with the same chore (Sterling Brown named 17 in a pre-recorded segment).

Kiesl, a human resources manager for Kohl’s, came away with some Bucks swag for the feat – and the admiration of Wisconsinites everywhere. Seriously, there is nothing more Wisconsin than this.

All while 3 ½ year old daughter Ellie was perched on her arm, Kiesl ran the gamut from American to mascarpone (!) to Colby jack while the Bucks in-game entertainemnt team broadcast her responses on the scoreboard.

“She was asking to be on the big screen all while we were waiting,” Kiesl said of her daughter.

“I’ve lived in Wisconsin my whole life,” when asked how she knew so many. “Desserts? I’m a big dessert fan.”

Kiesl did know with about 2 minutes to go before being televised live on the scoreboard that the category would be cheeses. She was also told one of the pre-recorded Bucks players amassed 24, so the pressure was on.

“There was a moment there where I said to myself, ‘What am I forgetting? What am I forgetting?’ and then I just ran with it.”

She was attending the game with her father, Pat Schmidt, and husband, Dan. She’s been attending Bucks games since she was little, and her father is a season ticket holder.

“I tried tagging her at SportsCenter (on Twitter), and she yelled at me,” Dan said.

The video tweeted out by the Bucks was creeping toward 40,000 views in its first hour.
