Noam Chomsky Explains How 'Criminally Insane' Republicans Quietly Filed 'The Most Evil Document In History'

Progressive intellectual Noam Chomsky famously called the Republican party the “the most dangerous organization in world history" after the election of Trump.

In a new interview with Scientific American, Chomsky expounded on those thoughts, and gave some disturbing examples of how Trump-era Republicans now qualify as "criminally insane."

One example is Trump's legal filing to build a wall on his gold course in Ireland for the stated purpose of battling the threat of global warming, "while at the same time he withdrew from international efforts to address the grim threat and is using every means at his disposal to accelerate it."

He also points to Republicans who seemed to recognize the danger of Trump in the 2016 primaries only to kiss the ring upon his ascention to the top of the party's ticket and then the White House.

"Without exception, they either denied that what is happening is happening—though any ignorance is self-induced—or said maybe it is but we shouldn’t do anything about it," he said. "The moral depths were reached by the respected 'adult in the room,' Ohio governor John Kasich, who agreed that it is happening but added that 'we are going to burn [coal] in Ohio and we are not going to apologize for it.'"

Chomsky pointed out that the Trump administration filed paperwork to get rid of auto emissions standards arguing that we are headed "over the cliff," and auto emissions are a minor part.

Chomsky described that filing as "the most evil document in history."

The Republican philosophy seems to be "let’s rob while the planet burns, putting poor Nero in the shadows," he said.
