Facebook tip helps KPD identify suspect accused of identity theft

A suspect accused of identity theft was identified to KPD on Friday following a Facebook tip. KPD has not released the suspect's identity.

The Knoxville Police Department has identified the suspect in a vehicle burglary that led to attempted identity theft in October. 

A suspect broke into a woman's car on Oct. 23 and stole her purse, then tried to use the victim's ID to cash a check made out to the suspect the next day.

KPD released pictures of the subject and was able to identify her after receiving a tip on its Facebook page. 

KPD's investigation is continuing, and additional information is expected to be released as it develops.
