I left a comment on your other article too. My testimony has the similarity to that Christian’s grandfather in that I almost died before I saved though some just as serious health issues came years and years before salvation and during the UU years. While UU, I was told make the best of this life, well one problem with Christianity out there is they make false promises in many of the churches, that being a Christian will guarantee an easy life, in fact there are more subtle versions of the “have a best life now” messages I’ve posted against where Christianity is seen as a life-improvement exercise. People face the horrors of this world, their dreams do not come true and in their disappointment, and pain, this phony Christianity vaporizes. One sees a form of this with the Joel Osteen crowd but it’s in the fundamentalist world too to a certain extent where a perfect picture of a Christian life is shown, the white picket fences, pristine churches, the perfect families, this fitting in and matching into a slot and expecting life to go by a script.

I did not become a Christian for the “fire insurance”, I became a Christian because it is true and out of love for Jesus Christ.

1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

Those who simply become Christians based on only what they will get out of it kind of miss the point.

Atheism is literally a tunnel to a black hole. Oh the UUs would tell me we become part of star dust again, and other such musings to make it all sound so nice and back then I went with it. One of my old roommates from college is an atheist and she says you just die and rot. Even when I did not believe in God, I wrote a poem when I was 18 years old years and years ago that I wished that God existed, well He does.

I am curious do you ever wonder if you are wrong? Being an atheist in fact takes a faith of a different kind. You may demand physical proof of the Christians but what proves atheism? The claims the universe came out of nothing are rather odd.
