 Comments for The Way Forward I made the mistake of engaging in a discussion with a literalist Bible-believing Christian regarding Biblical inerrancy vs the geologic and biologic record. I thought this person was interested in actual information. I thought they might have never seen the actual information, since many church schools and homeschooling families don’t teach actual facts.
Boy, was I wrong. After a few days of trying to be civil in the face of increasing snottiness and serving as his personal Google-engine, only to have my facts sneered at or dismissed as “just a worldly belief-system,” I finally realized he had no interest in honest discussion or learning anything. He just wanted to pontificate and proselytize. Lesson learned.
Keep at it, Bruce. We miss you when you go on sabbatical. You offer good, honest information about what I have come to understand is a toxic and destructive version of faith. That story needs to be told.
(Gravity is apparently a worldly belief-system. Who knew?:-)
