Mexican grain buyer pleased with new NAFTA agreement

A procurement manager for a conglomerate of 10 Mexican grain purchasers is pleased with the new U.S. Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

Speaking to Brownfield through an interpreter at the 2018 Export Exchange in Minneapolis, Arturo Basulto called NAFTA a win-win for the U.S. and Mexico.

“We certainly agree that it was very necessary to have a renegotiation.  There were a lot of chapters that have been like they were already not useful at all that needed to be updated.  So renegotiating that agreement has really been very successful.”

Basulto says the companies he represents import most of their grain from the U.S.  Those products include corn, DDGS, sorghum, and soybean meal.
