Growth Energy: Nationwide adoption of E15 will add 2 billion bushels of corn demand

The CEO of pro-ethanol group Growth Energy says President Trump’s directive for year-round E15 couldn’t have come at a better time for corn farmers.

Emily Skor says the E15 waiver will grow markets for corn.

“If overtime we become a nation that consumes 15 percent ethanol and we have nationwide adoption, that translates to more than two billion bushels of new corn demand every year,” she says.

She tells Brownfield she is not concerned about the oil industry seeking an injunction against the waiver.

“It’s actually very common for EPA rules to go into litigation and we know that the law is on our side, and so we look forward to getting the rule in place,” she says. “Our hope and the White House commitment is that this will be in place by the next summer driving season and we will do what we need to do to make sure that the rule withstands any legal scrutiny.”

Skor spoke to Brownfield at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. She says that she hopes President Trump will discuss E15 and ethanol when he speaks at the convention on Saturday.
