A Hanover Borough man fled and has a warrant out for his arrest after police say he allegedly attempted to strangle his girlfriend.

Tricoi Tyrone McNeil, 38, of the 100 block of Pleasant Street, allegedly pushed his girlfriend, who is not named, onto a bed and placed both his hands around her neck on Oct. 18, according to an affidavit filed with District Judge Dwayne Dubs.

The girlfriend told police that she felt like she was about to pass out and was gasping for air.

McNeil fled the scene before police arrived, but his girlfriend provided them with his information, which was confirmed by police and PennDot records, the affidavit states.

A witness, who also was not named, also told police that she heard the girlfriend yell, "Stop, I can't breath."

She said she ran to the house, went inside and saw only McNeil and his girlfriend.

Police saw that the girlfriend had redness around her neck area and an abrasion near her right shoulder blade and back, police said in the affidavit.

McNeil was charged with strangulation and simple assault, according to online court documents.

Anyone with information on McNeil's whereabouts or this incident should call Hanover Borough Police at 717-637-5575 or through York County 911.
