Nor'easter and Willa: Big storm with rain - and snow - possible for Pa. this weekend

Remnants of Hurricane Willa could help to bring a major storm to Pennsylvania for the weekend, according to Dave Samuhel, senior meteorologist with AccuWeather.com.

It could mean a nor'easter moving up the coast, bringing heavy rain to the York area. Some parts of Pennsylvania – such as the Poconos – could see snow, he said.

Willa, which is in the Pacific Ocean, made landfall in Mexico Tuesday night. It is expected to move across the Southeast and then travel up the East Coast, said John Banghoff, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

A coastal storm could bring rain – and snow – to Pennsylvania this weekend.

Meteorologists are sure that a weekend coastal storm is expected, but many questions remain, he said. That includes the timing of the storm, the specific track and which spots could see intense precipitation.

Some areas could see a good 2 inches of rain, Banghoff said. "We're certainly keeping an eye on it."

The National Hurricane Center has since downgraded Willa to a tropical storm.

As if we haven't had enough rain already, York County could see anywhere from half an inch to two inches of rain, depending on the track of the storm, Samuhel said.

The time frame could be anywhere from Friday night through Sunday night, Banghoff said.
