Chad Kelly, the nephew of NFL legend Jim Kelly, was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal trespassing in Colorado early Tuesday, according to police reports.

If his name sounds familiar to YAIAA football fans, it should.

Kelly played part of his freshman and sophomore seasons at Red Lion before he was removed from the team and returned to his native western New York in 2009.

The Denver Broncos backup quarterback set the school's single-season record with 287 yards passing and five touchdowns in his last game with the Lions.

Kelly was taken into custody after Englewood (Colorado) police responded to a call about a "male standing outside a residence" just after midnight. Police were told the man had been chased out of the residence by one of the occupants, according to a news release.

The Broncos have already cut ties with Kelly, waiving him Wednesday.

Police found Kelly while searching the area for a man who matched his description. He was booked at Arapahoe County Jail, and was later released.

"We are disappointed that Chad Kelly was arrested early this morning," the Broncos said in a statement Tuesday before Kelly was cut Wednesday. "Our organization has been in contact with Chad, and we are in the process of gathering more information."
