Bossier City police are investigating what they believe is the city's third homicide of the year after a body was found inside a dumpster at a Bossier City apartment complex Monday morning.

A body was found at the Cordova Court Apartments in Bossier City on Monday.

The body of a deceased male was discovered by a "dumpster diver" around 9:30 a.m. at the Cordova Court Apartments, in the 900 block of Westgate Drive, said Traci Landry, Bossier City Police Department public information officer.

The apartment complex is located just off the Shreveport-Barksdale Bridge and across from the main entrance of Barksdale Air Force Base.

The person's name, age and other identifying information have not yet been released by authorities, as next of kin has not been notified, Landry said.

Landry would not confirm whether the victim was a resident of the apartment complex, but said police would be interviewing potential witnesses and remain on the scene to process evidence for most of the afternoon.

Landry also could not comment on the victim's potential cause of death.

This would be the city's third homicide this year, all which have occurred in just a month's time.

A body was found outside the Cordova Court Apartments in Bossier City.

On Sept. 25, Joshua Lewis Kidd, an airman at Barksdale, was shot and killed just before 6 a.m. on Parklane Drive in the GreenAcres Place subdivision in north Bossier City.

Two teenagers were later arrested in connection with his death and charged with second-degree murder, 10 counts of simple burglary of a vehicle and one count of theft of a firearm.

On Friday, Oct. 19, police officers responded at 9:47 p.m. to a shooting on the 5th level of the Horseshoe Casino parking garage.

When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was transported to Ochsner LSU Health hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Landry confirmed that incident was also being investigated as a homicide.

"We want to stress that that crime was not a random crime," Landry said. "It was between two employees of the casino."

Landry said police would release more information on the Horseshoe shooting later on Monday.
